The Marathon Continues: Nipsey Hussle’s Homegoing Service

On April 11th 2019, Nipsey Hussle’s Homegoing Service was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and was broadcast on BET, Tidal and Twitter. Viewers could see a large display of flowers surrounding the late icon’s casket with the All Money In logo displayed above it. The service was a beautiful one as it was a conglomerate of family members telling stories, artists singing songs dedicated to him (including Stevie Wonder who sang the song Nipsey personally requested be sung by him at his Homegoing) and of course A Word too. Perhaps the most important aspect of the service was when Nipsey’s mother shared that we have to be strong just like she is throughout this process. Also, everyone connected to Nispey remembered the advice he had given them. Upon sharing it with us, we are able to benefit from it just like they were. The transparency of the speakers was a standout moment as well as Lauren’s son, Kameron, sharing a dream he had about Nipsey to Snoop Dogg; sharing how he wasn’t exactly on board with Nipsey’s entrepreneurial idea for him. Hearing all the stories shared about Nipsey from his brother, mother, and father helped us see that Nispey had his headstrong mentality from the very beginning and as he got older he only got wiser and more determined but most importantly – focused.

While we have lost a truly impactful individual, we can still keep his legacy alive. The mark he left will never be erased and as the Pastor Shep Crawford said he is immortalized now. And as Lauren London said…

“The Marathon Continues”.

Writing has always been Paul’s passion. His ultimate dream is to become a best selling author but, that journey begins here! He also loves movies, music, and food (eating it more than cooking it!). He says he tends to gravitate towards action and some dramas but, can also really get into a psychological thriller. Being an open minded individual, he literally listens to ALL kinds of music, so he has favorite artists across multiple genres.
