BuzzFeed And Instagram Partner To Bring Video School “VerticalU”
Are you a passionate curator or content creator with a story you want to share? Instagram has partnered with BuzzFeed to find 15 lucky video talent apprentices to attend VerticalU; a three-part vertical film school tailored to IGTV, in Los Angeles and New York City.
Curriculum: This five day training will teach the video basics: lighting and set design, and it will cover other media related techniques like how to make sure your content goes viral.
VerticalU will also offer one-on-one mentorship, industry sessions, and plenty of other fun surprises like happy hour!
For the following six weeks, students will bring to life their projects with ongoing support from Instagram and their BuzzFeed mentor. Screening will be held in NYC at a future date in 2019.
When: The training will take place in Los Angeles, California from December 3-7,2018 followed by a six-week period where students will work remotely on their own time to complete their VerticalU project. The program will conclude with a special screening celebration in early 2019. (Date TBD). Travel and lodge to LA will be covered, and students will also receive a small grant to cover other expenses while there.
How To Qualify: No professional experience is required, just basic knowledge on how to work a camera. You must be 18 or older, with an active Instagram account. You must also be a US resident with the ability to travel to LA for the training.
