The classic and iconic brand Ralph Lauren has finally decided to tap into streetwear. The all- American signature polo shirt, coupled with a pair of crisp chinos has been the signature for preppy summer attire for decades. The brand is now ready to embark on a new journey; partnering with London based skate brand Palace.
Last Thursday, images of billboards in Tokyo’s Shibuya district—towering navy blue posters with the Polo logo in the center above the Palace logo—started making the rounds on social media. Lev Tanju, Palace’s founder, and co-owner Gareth Skewis said that the collection is centered around pieces they grew up wearing, and they talk reverently of their new partner. “It’s the only brand that you can wear to a board meeting, a funeral and go to the football in—and all in the same day,“ Skewis told BoF.
According to Hypebeast, the collection is available November 9 on Palace’s web store, and will also be available via the Ralph Lauren app in North America, in addition to select RL, Palace, and Dover Street Market brick-and-mortar locations.
